And so this is Christmas…. 23/12/2007

As the festive season winds down and we can all safely sit back on the couch, feet up, a glass of fine Italian chianti in one hand and half a turkey in the other we can finally say “Thank God its all over for another year”
Thats right everyone, the biggest birthday bash of the year is almost upon us and we can all keep our fingers crossed that good old Santa himself will stuff our stockings with half-decent prezzie…if not the sales are only next week and those vouchers you were cursing only days before will get you a nice pair of Manolo Blahniks or Nintendo – whatever your into!
So from all us here at the Avalon, we hope you have a greeeeat Christmas and if your too worse for wear to remember it…thats why Jaysus invented digital cameras!!

As we approach the last stretch of the yule tide season shopping frenzy all us normal people are all slowly remembering that “one” family member we forgot to buy a present for! In the case of all the staff here thats not the story, we havent bought ANY yet! Though we say this every year “Ill start shopping in November” we clearly get hit with post summer amnesia and leave it all to the last minute every fec*in year!!!
One thing we didnt forget however (despite the sambuca), was The Avalon House christmas party on Wednesday!!!After a very civilised meal, classy wine and a joyful busride to Temple Bar all the staff let their hair down and danced the night away to all those cringe-worthy Christmas songs we all love to hate! There was even a staff rendition of the nothing-to-do-with-Christmas-whatsoever classic Eidelweiss led by choir-master Paddy!

So as its only 9 days til the big day-get a move on….Most of the good stuff is already sold out and no one is going to be impressed by a pair of crinkle scissors, a christmas jumper or vouchers on Christmas Day!Trust me!

In the wise words of Ms Carey … “Santa Claus won’t make me happy with a DEODORANT SET on Christmas day” (Original Lyrics, 1994)

9 days left baby!!!!!

Yet more December news! 09/12/2007

Folks…as promised some festive fotos from the gang here at Avalonia! As we hit the 2 week countdown to Chrimbo, thanks to Erica, Steve and Nicola we now have a gigantic Christmas tree gracing the reception area of Avalon House, towering over all our guests! The tree, standing at more than 55 foot has officially been named by Guinness book of world records as the most beautiful and tallest tree in south County Dublin* and takes 4 whole generators to power its fleet of lights! So tall is this tree, in fact it took 2 strapping young men to haul Erica up the tree to put the Christmas Fairy in her rightful place!Check it out!!!

So as the embarrassingly great Christmas songs hit our radios and the streets of Dublin resemble Wall Street on any given morning, let me leave you with this final thought! Puppies are not just for Christmas and Argos have only 4 Nintendo Wiis left so get your skates on!!!

Happy 2 weeks til Christmas Day day to you all!!!!!!!
