We are getting in the festive spirit these days in Avalon, having put up our Christmas tree and decorations ( after a long battle with three sets of lights I might add) ; we have come all Christmassy all over. This was helped on its way by the event of the year! Yes the Avalon work Christmas party was truly a special occasion. The night unfolded amongst the mountains of Wicklow, being chauffeured around several famous pubs of the county, Johnny Foxes, the supposed highest pub in Ireland. It is filled with many trinkets and interesting facts to keep you amused for hours. Then onto the next two pubs followed by a glorious hearty Christmas dinner in the wonderfully scenic Glenmalure lodge, and all this was capped off by even more drinks in Byrnes bar, as seen by the girls below, Mr Byrne looks after all his customers with a bit of TLC. It all ended at Dublin’s very own Temple Bar, What a Night!! Many thanks to Shane, our hostess with the mostess, if it wasn’t for him, many of us would be stuck in the mountains still! He runs a tour like this every week and can be booked at our reception, it is highly recommended by the Avalon bunch. Just ask.
The month of December has lots to do in Dublin, so why waste time in booking your stay. The “ Dublin on Ice†Skating rink is now open for visitors at Smithfield market, just beside the Jameson factory, so you can kill two birds with one stone whilst enjoying a hot whiskey! The Christmas Market is also on down in the IFSC and has all amounts of different foods and trinkets to be had from the local area.
So lets hope for a White Christmas, but not a cold one, which is hard to do I know but if anywhere can do it…it’s Dublin!
