Where the hell have you been? 22/05/2013

Months! Months since we’ve talked… Hows it goin? You’re lookin well sure. Any news? Ourselves? Ah ya know yourself…

After a weekend in which we welcomed a Napoleonic army of rugby fans to our hostels we are beginning to return to normal. This is not to say our Gallic friends left the place looking like a 21st century Waterloo, in fact quite the opposite with not a single reported case of Sacre Bleeeurrrrghh reported throughout the buildings. Au revoir nos amis!

This week has a much quieter vibe to it around town. Its the Writers Festival here in Dublin so gone are the line outs and scrums and in with the alliteration and assonance. Tracey Thorn (Everything but the Girl) is around to speak about her time in the arts and there are loads of other workshops and lectures in various locations throughout the city. Ask at reception and the guys will help you out with directions for wherever you need to be.

June bank holiday weekend is on its way and brings with it one of the more unique music festivals of the summer. Forbidden Fruit is located in the grounds of the old Royal Hospital which now plays host to IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art). I spent the last one working in a cramped take away van throwing noodles at hungry sunburnt drunks who seemed to be having a great time altogether, if thats not a ringing endorsement for craic you need to get your brain checked for depleted levels of vitamin fun.

This years line-up welcomes acts like Kasabian and Primal Scream as well as up and coming Irish duo Solar Bears. There’s no camping at this so why not stay with us in Kinlay or Avalon? You can walk there, party till it all dies down then stumble back into town for severial nightcaps and a conversation with the night staff that you’ll feel embarrassed about in the morning.

Dont forget to check our hostels websites for accommodation at:

All the best now!
