Q. Where is Avalon House located?

Q. Are you near Temple Bar, Dublin
A. Yes, We are a 5 minute walk to/from the Temple Bar area, straight down Aungier Street.
Q. Is there a curfew?
A. No. Avalon House is open 24 hours.
Q. What are check-in and checkout times?
A. As we are open 24 hours you can arrive and leave at anytime of the day or night. However the rooms are not ready until 2.00pm when you first arrive as our housekeeping staff need time to clean your room/bed. If you arrive before 2.00pm, you can store your bags in our luggage storage/lockers (€2 per day ) and return to the hostel when your room is ready. When you are departing, check-out from the room is by 10.00 a.m.
Q. What is included in the price for a night?
A. Our prices include your bed for the night, your bed linen and duvets, hot showers, a light breakfast, and full use of all our facilities. Private rooms (singles and twins/doubles) also include free towels)
Q. What attractions are there near by?
A. As we are located so centrally there are numerous attractions within walking distance of the hostel. Some of the popular ones are the Guinness Brewery, Trinity College, Christchurch Cathedral, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, St. Stephen’s Green and the Jameson Distillery. Q. What is the difference between a standard and ensuite room?
A. An ensuite room has its own private bathroom with sink, shower and toilet. Standard rooms do not. Guests staying in standard rooms can use the communal shower and toilet facilities which are located at the end of each corridor. All showers and toilets in the communal bathrooms have their own private cubicles.
Q. Are there parking facilities nearby?
A. Yes. We do not have private parking facilities at Avalon House, but guests can park their cars overnight in the Mercer Car Park or Royal College of Surgeons Car Park which are 2 minutes walk from the hostel.
Q. Can I store my bags after I check out? Can I store my bags before I check in?
A. Yes! We have a free luggage room for groups only, we also have lockers which you can rent for 2 euro per day. We also have special safes suitable for laptops/passports/jewellery etc. which you can also hire for 2 euro per day.
Q. Can I leave my bags for longer than 1 day?
A. Yes – as long as you are coming back to stay with us you can leave your luggage for up to 2 weeks.
Q. How much does internet cost?
A. Nothing! It’s free! We have 5 free internet terminals that any of our guests can use and we also have free WiFi access.
Q. Do you have hairdryers/adaptors/umbrellas/weighing scales/
games/towels/phone chargers/book swap/laundry facilities/games/books?

Q. Why is it cheaper to book online?
A. Because that’s the easiest way to reserve! We put special offers exclusively online so always book on our website if you can.
Q. Can I book a female dorm only?
A. We have limited availability online for female dorms. If you have booked you can request a female room by email
Q. What methods of payment do you accept?
A. We accept credit cards and debit cards.
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. We have a 24 hour cancellation policy so you must contact the hostel directly byemail or telephone at least 24 hours before the arrival date to cancel your booking to avoid being charged.
Q. What happens if I do not cancel my booking in time?
A. If you do not arrive for your booking and you have not cancelled 24 hours in advance we will charge you for the balance of the first night’s stay and cancel the rest of your booking.
Q. Do you have any age restrictions?
A. No – everyone from 0 to 100 is welcome at Avalon, but please note that any guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and cannot share dormitory rooms.
